The second volume of the Bartók New Series - Category of Best Symphonic album

Even though things are known to start a new life in spring, this autumn has brought about several new developments in the life of Hungaroton. The most important piece of news is that the second volume of the Bartók New Series has been selected among the finalists for the MIDEM Classical Awards 2008. January the jury assembled of editors-in-chief of leading European music journals will again hand this Award to the eight category winners selected from among hundreds of albums. The second volume of the Bartók New Series, which contains the pieces Kossuth and The Wooden Prince, was nominated in the category of Best Symphonic album. The National Philharmonic Orchestra led by Zoltán Kocsis has become a finalist with the following albums:
- Bruckner: Symphony No. 6. Lucerne Festival Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado - released by the Lucerne Festival
- Mahler: Symphony No. 5. San Francisco Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas - released by the San Francisco Symphony
